World premiere: a marriage proposal in space.

On Feb. 14, 2013, Sebastian, a 35-year-old French man, will be the first man to propose to his girlfriend in space, at an altitude of 30 kilometers. The space flight will be entirely filmed, from the launch to the arrival of the message of love in the stratosphere.

For 4990 euros (approx. $6,750), the man called on the services of the French company ApoteoSurprise, a romance expert specialized in planning spectacular marriage proposals in Paris. On Valentine’s Day, the picture of the couple and the message “Vanessa, will you marry me?” will be attached to a giant helium-filled balloon and released in the sky by professionals operating in the space exploration area. The set will be supplied with video recording equipment which will film the message and the surrounding scenery during the whole flight, from the launch to the arrival in Space.

After two or three hours, the message of love will arrive at an altitude of 30 kilometers, and the last footage will be shot with the wonderful blue planet in the background. The balloon will blow up, a parachute will open, and the video equipment will fall back to Earth. The footage will be recovered and a montage will be edited, so the man can show the astounding film to his girlfriend. The lady will then become the first woman to be proposed to in space.

The scenario “Say I love you in Space” is the 2013 brand new package from the catalog of 30 romantic experiences available on the website. The official launch of this scenario, allowing men to take the stars out of the sky for their Valentine, will be taking place on Feb. 14, 2013.

About ApoteoSurprise: Based near Disneyland Paris, ApoteoSurprise is a French event planner specialized in setting up elaborate marriage proposals in the city of love. On its website, the agency offers 30 all-inclusive proposal packages, including a Cinderella’s carriage appearing at Moulin Rouge with a magical shoe, an airplane displaying the proposal message on its wings while flying over Notre Dame, and even a shower of 1000 red roses fully covering a yacht during a VIP dinner-cruise on Seine river. Prices range from 490 euros (approx. $663) for a limousine tour with a personalized message appearing on a giant LED screen at the Eiffel Tower to 15900 euros (approx. $21,500) for a private aerial patrol drawing a white smoke heart in the Parisian sky. In 7 years, more than 1000 lovers, coming from all over the world, have called on the expertise of ApoteoSurprise to express their love in Paris.

Q&A with French Romance Planner and founder of ApoteoSurprise Nicolas Garreau:

Why should lovers come to ApoteoSurprise to declare their love to their significant other?

Because Paris is considered as the city of love, and before I launched ApoteoSurprise in 2006, no services existed to help men to amaze their loved ones. Thanks to my 30 romantic packages, it’s now really easy to surprise the other one like in a real romantic film. My rule is to allow couples to live a real dream in Paris.

Specifically regarding the space proposal, what has gone into the planning for this?

Thanks to this scenario, it’s now possible to send the photo and proposal message in the stratosphere. I already did amazing things, in Paris, but my dream was to allow love to go up to the stars. How many women are lucky enough to be proposed to in space? None, before I created this scenario. This dream is now possible.

What is the significance of a proposal from space?

Space is a synonym of dream. What is more romantic than a message flying through the stars? What is more romantic than kissing each other while watching stars? Sky and space are really romantic, for love, that’s why I offer different proposal packages related to sky. Thanks to my space package, only a few women on Earth, will be lucky enough to be proposed in space. That’s a real privilege.

Will you be offering more space proposals in the future?

This space experience is very VIP. I think that a maximum of 3 or 4 couples will be able to do it every year.

What unique opportunities does ApoteoSurprise have to offer to people in America?

A lot of my clients come from USA. Paris is considered the city of love all over the world, but here in France, we have a very special relationship with American people. I’m always happy to help American men who cross the ocean to plan something really unique and romantic.

Why should people in America travel to take part in the different opportunities ApoteoSurprise has to offer?

American couples, when they go to Paris, want to live something romantic. But it’s not always easy to know what to do and how to be creative and unique. My rule is to help men to live something exclusive and that would seem almost impossible to organize without the help of a romance planner.

What is your biggest joy in working with ApoteoSurprise and people who are in love? The biggest downfall?

My job is amazing, as I see people during the most amazing and beautiful day of their life. Almost every time, women cry and are amazed like in a romantic film. I make French romance a reality. So, I can say that I’m really lucky to have that kind of unusual job. The biggest downfall is that with all the energy and time I offer to my clients, I have no more time to set up my own romantic surprises.

Is there anything else you would like to add regarding ApoteoSurprise or the space proposal?

On Earth or in space, the important is to enjoy every little moment of true love, when lucky enough to live it!
